About

Church in Chains

Welcome to the Church in Chains, where the Good News isn't confined by prison walls! The Church in Chains is a prison ministry committed to sharing the Good News with a body behind the prison walls. Our mission?  Our mission is to raise up a church behind the walls, a church in chains, a church that ministers to one another, a church of men and women of God who are just as anointed, gifted and equipped as any church outside the prison walls.

Chaplain Robert Proy's leadership has established the Church in Chains prison ministry to raise up a church behind the prison walls.

If you read his book, Church in Chains, you’ll begin to understand the power of the Church In Chains ministry as Proy reveals to inmates they have a ministry all their own.

Within the walls are prophets, teachers, apostles, men and women called to every office of ministry. Proy and his team of volunteers teach them they are no less called and anointed to ministry than anyone on the outside.

God brought Ezekiel to the Valley of Dry Bones and challenged him: “Son of man, can these bones live?”

Proy, dropped into the Valley of Corrections, struggled to answer the same question. Just as God revealed the answer to Ezekiel, so did God reveal the answer to Proy, and so was the Church of Chains inspired and born.

Leadership

Chaplain Robert Proy

CHAPLAIN ROBERT PROY is driven by a divine vision that brought a unique awareness of who believing inmates actually are, the Church in Chains, men and women of God who are just as anointed, gifted and equipped as any church outside of the prison.

As the visionary and principal leader of the ministry, he combines an extensive background in teaching and spiritual counseling inside and outside of the prison system to fulfill a calling to raise up inmate churches behind the prison walls.

From the training center and practice fields of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the cells along death row, Chaplain Proy applies a unique mix of individual and group coaching and ministry experience to his calling.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development from Eckerd College, Master’s degrees from Oral Roberts University in Counseling & Family Counseling, and Divinity.

His prison ministry extends across nearly a decade, and he’s no less motivated, driven or determined to bring to life the Church in Chains.
